Hold Tight … Keep Going

A little over a month ago I ran into someone I hadn’t seen in a long time. As we caught up with each other she shared that she was training to run a marathon. I’m not one to brag, but I’ve completed countless marathon runs. It’s true. I can’t begin to count the number of times I’ve had to run get gas at the Marathon down the street!

Seriously though, that encounter inspired me to try running at home on the treadmill – Thanks Shannon Bryant! For me, running is not enjoyable. I don’t like it. But the results are pleasing and keep me committed. Still, running is sometimes- okay, most times- very difficult for me. What I often have to do is hold onto the rails, that is the only way I can keep running.

Life is sometimes the same way. There are times when a job loss, health issue, death of a loved one, betrayal, disappointment, or other situation can threaten to exhaust you to the point of giving up. You are tempted to stop hoping and trying to get to a healthier place. Don’t stop running. Grab the rails. Hold on tight. Keep going. Every step brings you closer to victory – completing your own marathon.
